View of the José Martí Park, an icon of the city of Guantánamo The Cultural Center Art Zone, new designation of the former Guantánamo Pavilion, is among the works planned for release as part of the celebrations for the 150th anniversary of the proclamation of Guantánamo as a Villa on December 1 this year.
Idaliena Díaz Casamayor, vice president of the Municipal Assembly of People's Power (AMPP) in the capital city, explained that although the investment plan has been affected by the current health situation, priority is given to the state plan's housing construction program, which will ensure the delivery of 100 properties this year.
Diaz Casamayor added that work is being done on maintenance actions in the Caridad Jaca, San Jose and Santa Catalina nursing homes.
The cancellation of a postage stamp by the Cuban Postal Service and the release of an application with native rhythms of the territory for mobile phones, are part of the communication campaign for the name, which is accompanied by the slogan Authentic, Loyal, Our, said Oliannides Barrientos Venereo, communicator of the AMPP.
The initiatives also include the call for the creation of a dish and a drink to greet the event, as well as the presentation of a perfume, the restoration and creation of murals in the city, in addition to the online launch of the My City plastic arts and poetry contest.
The transmission of radio and television programmes will be promoted through the Internet, as well as a fashion show with designs for different age groups. Social networks and the media will serve as channels through which the population will propose personalities for the awarding of the 150th Anniversary distinction.
